Happy Halloween!

Picked up a nice little haul of cute pumpkins at the patch again this year.

Zack pleaded long and hard for a solid week until we were finally willing to dig in.

"Give the pumpkin a scary face like this, Dad!"

These "Triple Treat" pumpkins were touted for their triple purpose:
-Good for Halloween carving
-Thick, deep orange flesh is excellent for pies
-Hull-less seeds are delicious raw or cooked
I haven't yet tried roasting the seeds for eating, but when it came to carving we should have used a small saw to cut through the tough, wood-like, outer layer. We ended up using our Dremel. If you like the smell of burnt pumpkin it's a good option.

Keep your fingers crossed for a follow-up post with this year's Mario family costumes!

Update:
It's now 2011 and I'm posting pictures of our Mario Family costumes - they aren't the greatest pictures, but at least it's something.
